屋形船　yakata bune（pleasure boat）

屋形船は５月２０日過ぎの土日に行われる。　日田川開き観光祭に始まり１０月末あたりまで運行されます。

夕方７時ころに旅館前の遊歩道より離岸し約２時間船の上でのお食事をたのしむことができます。
お食事を終えたころ上流より鵜飼の船が松明とともに現れ、伝統的な漁法を屋形船のお客様にお見せします。

鵜匠は鵜の首に結ばれた紐を通して数羽の鵜を器用に操ります。
鵜たちは夜の川にもぐりさかんにアユやハヤなど捕まえてきます、鵜は首にまかれた紐のせいでせっかく捕まえた魚をのみこむことはできません。
のみこんだ魚をはきださせ魚は鵜匠のものとなります。
漁が終わると鵜飼船は屋形船に横付けされ、鵜匠による鵜の性質や鵜飼の歴史などの説明がされます。


鵜飼が上流にかえっていくとそろそろ屋形船でのお楽しみもおしまいにちかづきます。

Yakata bune season opens ftom the first saturday past 20th of may and closes at the end of october.
Most of Ryokan(Japanese style inn)located along to the Mikuma-gawa(middle part of Chikugo river)has Yakata-bune.

Ryokan has stair way to riverside promenade and tourists just go down a few speps and get to the Yakata-bune-moored promenade pier-in a minute.

Usually Yakata-bune leaves pier at 7 and be back at around 9pm.
On a boat, you can enjoy Kaiseki(course menu).





Almost the time you finish the dinner,Ukai (cormorant fishing)boat shows up with toach light.
Usho(cormorant fisherman)manipulates many strings which ties their neck tightly, cause they cannot swallow Fish.

Cormorant birds dive into a dark water again and again and catch fish ,Usho retrieve a string and hold bird`s neck strongly to throw fish up.
