Kuma-chiku(Kuma area)
Along to the Mikuma river,5 ryokans(Japanese style inn) are standing.
Pedestrian along to the river.Yakatabune(pleasure boat),and
close to Ryokan many bar shop and izakaya,yakitori,noodle restaurants are treat you well.

 焼き物の里として有名、唐臼がゆったりと陶土を粉砕する。一子相伝が開窯依頼の習慣
      現在は10軒の窯元がある.
Famous pottery place,Karausu-soil masher moves slow.
You can hear the sound of ``dong``,when Karausu hit a soil.
Only an heir succeed the family business.Now 10 pottery remains.

ゆでめんをきつね色まで焼き、豚肉、長ネギ、大量のもやしと炒め独特のソースと絡める
Fry noodle well and mix with special sauce,sliced pork,
green onion,and a lot of bean sprout.

柚子こしょう   Yuzu koshou
柚子の表皮をおろし、青とうがらしと混ぜた調味料
Mixed grate citron peel and green pepper and salt.
It`s very hot but goes well with every Hita food.

-日田祇園-(Hita Gion Festival)

48.jpg起源は約400年前にさかのぼるといわれる。
The origin of Hita Gion is said that history goes back to the beginning of 17 century.
1714年、当時の日田代官が京都の祇園山鉾を手本に現代の山鉾の形になったといわれています。
In 1714,Hita daikan(governer)at that time imitated Kyoto Gion and finally the structure of festibal car became present day.
1971年より7月の二十日過ぎの土日に曳きまわしが行われるようになった。
Since 1971,festival car driving began to take place Suturday and Sunday past 20th of July every year.





1989年より日田駅前において集団顔見世が行われるようになったが、これは流れ曳き(ためし曳き)を利用したもので、3日続けて山鉾を曳いてはならないという掟があり、山鉾巡行本番の2日前(木曜日)に行われます。
Shudan kaomise (group debut)began to take place from 1989,8 festival cars come together just in front of the hita station .
Nagarebiki,originaly took place as a meaning of test driving,but it has changed to the event for tourist as Shudan kaomise.
Nagarebiki take place two days ahead of Hita gion festival day-thurthday.
According to the rule from the old days, a festival car must not be driven 3days continuously.
1996年『日田祇園曳き山行事』という名称で国の重要無形民俗文化財の指定を受けています。
In 1996 -Hita gion hikiyama gyouji- authorized as Juyo mukei minzoku bunkazai-Nations intangible cultural treasure.
山鉾には笹笛、太鼓、三味線からなる祇園囃子7、8人乗が乗りこみお祭りの雰囲気を盛り上げます。
五十数曲のレパートリーがあるといわれています。
Gion bayashi-a festial music band- get on a car-usually 7or8 persons- and perform gion music.They have 50 or more repertories,and their music make a special atmosphere of Gion.
A festival music band consist of bamboo flute,japanese drum,and samisen-three stringed Japanese banjoo.






IMG_5591.JPG晩山は山鉾に提灯をかざりつけ夏の夜にうかびあがる姿は優雅さを感じます。
Banyama-festival car at night time- is decorated by a lot of lantern.
Banyama come up to the darkness in the summer night make feelings like elegant.
豆田地区の晩山は御幸橋に集結し自町の山鉾の美しさ、力強さを競います。
Mameda-chiku(Mameda area) banyama come together on a Miyuki bashi(Miyuki bridge) and compete beauty and strength.
隈地区の晩山は札の辻に集結、札の辻の三叉路に4町の山鉾が勢いよく突入し、狭い三叉路に4基の山鉾と若衆、観衆が密集し、オッショイ、オッショイの掛け声で祭りは一気にクライマックスに達します。
Kuma-chiku(Kuma area) banyama come together at Fudanotsuji three-forked road,4 cars dash into Fudanotsuji and stay there for a while to enjoy final time of the festival.Crowd of yangsters and spectators stay a narrow space and shout``Osshoi,Osshoi………again and again,make enthusiasm into climax.
